Rhythmic Biography Part 1: A Drumming Master Class with Dafnis Prieto
In this special Master Class, GRAMMY-winning drummer, composer, educator, and MacArthur "Genius" Fellow Dafnis Prieto presents a series of rhythms that were personally significant as he developed as a drummer in Cuba and throughout his career, including carnival, guaguancó, danzón, and others. In an effort to build knowledge of tradition while also encouraging creativity, he explains these rhythms as well as ways to develop them into other possibilities. The class ends with an open session where Dafnis takes questions and comments from participants.
